Jul 27

Greetings,

June was a busy month for Elks.  Cary and Greg drove our float in the Land of the Loon Parade.  Many of us attended the Minnesota Elks State Convention in Rochester.  Our Public Safety Night was a huge success.  We gave away every life jacket and bike helmet we had.  The kitchen crew, headed by Bonnie and Jim Keller, served 120 meals.

The Lodge is looking for a new building manager.  We need someone available to check on the lodge and do some simple repairs.  Someone willing to learn about our ice machine, and our heating and cooling systems.  Call me or Tony Jeffries for more information.

There will be no Tuesday Burgers on July 4.  The Elks Bar will be open after the parade.  Nachos and pizzas will be available.  Burger Nites will resume on July 11 and continue the rest of the summer every Tuesday from 5-7 pm.

Many of our officers will be attending the Elks National Convention in Minneapolis as helpers.  It takes many Elks to put on this event that attracts 6-8 thousand Elks.  It runs from July 1- July 5.  Our Theme is “Get Your Plaid On”.  Meetings, workshops and hospitality rooms are all opportunities to learn about Elks.  It is fun meeting Elks from all over the country and hearing about how they have fun and raise money for the Elks Programs.

Please contact me if you are interested in being part of our Student of the Month Program.  We need members to talk to the school principals or counselors and send the invitations to the students.  We also are looking for a couple of cooks to prepare a meal for about 50 people once a month.  I would be there to help learn the ropes in our kitchen.

Our meeting night this month is the third Thursday July 20 at 6:30 pm.  See you then.

Have a great Summer,  Stancy Walters, ER
